Developing ideas for my design

I firstly wanted to incorporate more than one figure into the design, and create a complex image. As I am modeling every piece of the design it would take far to long to complete. So, I have chosen the parts of th design I like, I emphasized them and made them more into features. I want to still include a diverse feel to the stamp without overloading it and taking on too much.

The koi carp is a feature I want to use, as its attractive vibrant colours, as well as not being a typical option to use. I would like the earth to be part rendered, and part meshed, to show structure and complexity into the subject of biodiversity.

Some more modeling and lighting techniques learnt

In my last lecture we had a tutorial of using all the lighting effects that 3D S Max can perform. Im quite impressed with its quility, processing power and results, im getting to grips with it a lot more now so im excited to get started on creating my 3D stamps. I will post my sketched designs, to give you a an idea of the way im approaching this, and what my final designs may look like!

Whale Wars

This Discovery Channel series follows the Sea Sheppard and its crew of volenter conservationists, as they track a fleet of Japenese whaling ships. They belive the Japenses break a law dating back over 30 years, by killing whales for meat, and not the "research" they say its for. This program shows the interaction of biodiveristy on our planet, if its between animals them selves or the brutality of harvesting an incresingly endangered mammal.

This is the end of the the King Bird Of Paradise's tail, which is very rare only living in New Genea and very few other locations. They are amoung the most beautiful birds in the world, with there unusual and amazing plumages. And Below that are some other ideas I have generated.

I have started to narrow my research down, and looking suitable ideas to model for my stamps. I have decided I want to use a mixture of wildlife, landscape and people.

I started to look at stamps that have already been designed, as you can see many the varieties of colour and themes.

Pandas; in there endangered beauty

The often unknown Red Panda, somtimes nicknamed the firefox, many of you know it more to be created by mozzila.. But these are real, and made by mothernature itself. Althought its a panda, it has some similarities with racoons, due to its small size, but it has a very similar diet to that of the giant panda.

The BBC presents Life..

Yes, the BBC have done it again, next week sees the start of a new documentary called Life. David Attenborough looks at animals and plants, and the lengths they go too to survive. Another example of the extreme diversity of the bio-organisms that make up our planet.

Research into other areas of diversity
